Adv. Visual Merchandising
In FMD 556, I had partnered up with a boutique, Sweet P's Fashions, in my hometown to apply the knowledge and skills I had learned in my past FMD visual merchandising classes. I created a window display, reset different floor tables and wall fixtures, and I had dress mannequins with new inventory. I had also created a mock visual merchandising training manual for the boutique. I was able to complete this training manual with the knowledge I had learned while working with Sweet P's Fashions. Down below you can see the completed work I have done in this course.
What does a visual merchandiser do?
A Visual Merchandiser is a person who designs and arranges displays/products in a retailing setting and windows to attract customers and boost sales. Down below you will see the main qualities needed for a visual merchandiser.

Develop and implement visual merchandising strategies.

Manage and utilize retail space.

Create and maintain displays

Ensure visual consistency across different retail outlets.

Collaborate with different departments.

Track and analyze results.
Understanding Different Window Directives
In this section, you will see three different luxury brands application of visual merchandising for different seasons and collaborations.
Burberry - A 169 year old luxury brand known for their plaid, checkered designs. In this window directive, the brand's VM, Lee, focused on expressing the color of the year, Mimosa, which was used for their new collection.
Dior - This luxury brand is a 78 year old luxury brand that is very well known for their craftsmanship for women apparel. In this window directive, the VM wanted to showcase the quality of the brand's craftmanship and by doing this they created the backdrop using thread and needles. The color pallet for this window was neutral so the consumers could focus more on the quality of the products rather than the designment aspect.
Louis Vuitton - This luxury brand was founded in the late 1800s and for their holiday window display they collaborated with LEGO's. They collaborated with this brand to be used with their new children collections. As well as, showcase the 90th anniversary for the LEGO brand.
Field Work Application
For this project, I had to apply my knowledge within the visual merchandising field and apply it in a real life setting. I was able to partner with a boutique, Sweet P's Fashions, in my hometown and collaborate with them to create and organize different visually appealing fixtures. Down below you will see my work for window displays, styling mannequins, table and floor fixtures, and a wall fixture.
